# Fatal error on activation

Are you getting fatal error on plugin activation?

If you encounter a fatal error on plugin activation, that means you are running an oldest version of the plugin, which can not work when official Disqus comments plugin is already active.

Deactivate official plugin or update to the latest version of our plugin. Latest version of Disqus Conditional Load can work even when the official plugin is active.


# Installing via WP Dashboard

There are multiple ways you can install a plugin, so the Disqus Conditional Load. Two of the most common ways are doing it via the WordPress dashboard, and [via FTP](/installation/installing-via-ftp).

Follow these steps to install the plugin from your WordPress dashboard.

&#x20;Make sure you are logged in and have the right capabilities to manage plugins.

* Hover over the menu option Plugins, then click on **Add New**.
* Press the **Upload Plugin** button.
* Press choose file and select the our plugin zip file which you have downloaded.
* Press **Open**, then press **Install Now**.
* Now you can activate the plugin by clicking on **Activate Now**

# Installing via FTP

There are multiple ways you can install a plugin, so the Disqus Conditional Load. Two of the most common ways are doing it [via the WordPress dashboard](/installation/installing-via-wp-dashboard), and via FTP.

Follow these steps to install the plugin via FTP. To install it via FTP you will need direct access to your web host’s file server. Make sure you have a file transfer program (for example [Filezilla](https://filezilla-project.org/)) available, and have the correct rights from your hosting provider.

* On your local machine unzip the plugin zip file which you have downloaded already.
* Login to your site using FTP or SFTP.
* Upload the extracted folder to the **`wp-content/plugins/`**&#x64;irectory on your site.
* Go to the plugins list page and activate the plugin.
